Veneers in Ellicott City, MD

If you are considering making changes to your smile to improve its appearance, porcelain veneers may be the answer for you. This versatile treatment offered at the Julian Center for Comprehensive Dentistry can treat a variety of cosmetic issues and help you obtain the smile you want.

What are Veneers?

Veneers Ellicott City is a popular treatment in cosmetic dentistry. They are thin porcelain shells that are fixed to the front of the teeth. They are preferred by dentists over other treatments such as dental crowns because they require less of the tooth enamel to be removed, yet are still very effective at addressing a number of issues.

What Can Veneers Treat?

Cosmetic issues that can be addressed by veneers include teeth that are:

  • Chipped, cracked, or broken
  • Severely stained (that cannot be treated with conventional whitening treatments)
  • Misaligned or gapped
  • Worn or misshapen

You will be able to discuss your goals with our dentist, and a treatment plan will be created to make the custom shells that will improve your smile.

Procedure

Veneers in Ellicott City take two appointments to be placed successfully. The first appointment is to have the teeth prepared to receive the veneers. Your dentist at the Julian Center for Comprehensive Dentistry will apply a local anesthetic around the teeth receiving veneers. Because some tooth structure is being removed, and there may be a small amount of discomfort, the anesthetic is important in keeping you comfortable. Once the teeth are the right size for veneers to fit comfortably, your dentist near you will take an impression of them. A dental laboratory will use this impression to create the veneers. Temporary veneers may be placed at the end of this first visit to keep the prepared teeth protected until the next time you see us.

When the veneers have returned from the dental laboratory, your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and put the permanent ones in place to check the fit. Adjustments can be made as needed before they are permanently bonded onto the teeth. When you leave our dental office after this second appointment, we are confident that you will be excited about your new smile.
